Santim Publishing is the literary heart of Jua Centre. We exist to publish, amplify, and preserve the stories, ideas, and imaginations of young African, Caribbean, and Black women and girls.
From thought leadership on sustainability to picture books for little dreamers, we are building a body of work that reflects who we are—in all our complexity, creativity, and power.
Kujua means “to know” or “to discover” in Swahili. Each issue of Kujua Journal invites young ACB women to discover their voice—and to help readers discover something new about the world we share.
We publish work at the intersection of STEM, sustainability, Afro-feminism, and green leadership. But really, we publish whatever our contributors are thinking deeply about.
Three ways to contribute:

1,000–2,000 words
Opinion pieces, essays, and thought leadership. This is where you stake a claim, challenge an idea, or call us all to think differently. Whether you’re writing about climate justice, decolonizing STEM, or what Afro-feminism means to you—we want your perspective.

400–999 words
Shorter, more personal, just as powerful. A reflection on a program you experienced. A realization you had during a workshop. A moment that shifted how you see your place in the world. Perfect for youth exploring new ideas or sharing what they’re learning.

Flexible formats. 1,000 words max for text.
Sustainability isn’t just data—it’s imagination. We publish poetry, visual art, photo essays, animation, short fiction, and storytelling. Show us the future you’re building.
Stories for the next generation of leaders.
Before they can lead, they have to dream. Our children’s book series introduces young readers to sustainability, leadership, and the beauty of the African continent—through stories they can see themselves in.
